Restaurant Spotlight: Cuisine by Noel | Black History Month Special | Toronto

For the month of February, we will be turning our focus and shining the spotlight on some of hungerhub's black-owned partner restaurants.

During Black History Month, Canadians celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities who, throughout history, have done so much to make Canada a culturally diverse, compassionate, and prosperous country.

Here at hungerhub we're proud to partner with restaurants that reflect the diversity of this great country. For the month of February, we will be showcasing our country's diversity by celebrating and acknowledging black-owned restaurants and the positive impact they've had on the communities that they help shape and maintain.

Jerk Chicken and Waffles - Toronto Cuisine by Noel Caribbean

Cuisine by Noel is a fusion of inventive interpretations and Modern Caribbean Cuisine, on the menu you will find delicious staples that make up some of Toronto's best Caribbean food offerings such as Jerk Chicken, Smokey BBQ Jerk Chicken, as well as innovations such as the hugely popular Island Fried Chicken with Waffles. Here at hungerhub, the Oxtail Poutine has been a huge hit with our staff who get a little extra festive every time we bring in catering from Cuisine by Noel.

What was your main motivation when you decided to start a restaurant? Who inspired you to start? and who keeps inspiring you to continue?

After creating a social media following and oftentimes doing live cooking on social media, people would always ask where my restaurant is or if I would open a restaurant.
My main motivation was to really have a physical location where I can offer my cuisine and products.
My customers keep me going with their unwavering support coming from near and far and to those who just can't get enough of the food.

When did you open your restaurant?

I opened officially January 5th 2021 but I have been doing catering special orders, much before that and since 2013!

What is your most popular dish?
My most Popular dish is the Island Fried Chicken with Festival waffle which is a signature.

What changes have you made at your restaurant to adapt to the pandemic situation?

I opened in the middle of the pandemic but what I did was create a menu that travels well and also created a mixture of dishes that would appeal to both Jamaicans & Canadians at the same time. Like serving an oxtail and Jerk chicken poutine.

When did you join hungerhub?

I joined hungerhub in February of 2021.

How important has your work with hungerhub been during the pandemic?

hungerhub has helped my business to maintain and stay open.

It also allows me to reach new audiences. Take-out and delivery can definitely be uncertain, having a secured number of orders per day from hungerhub is a great way to start the day!
